Common Questions
How many pictures will we receive?
At LEAST 25 pictures.
You will recieve your photos through an online gallery link sent to your email.
What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?
The best time to have a newborn photo session is typically within three weeks after birth, as babies are still very sleepy and easily poseable during this period, allowing for the capture of classic "newborn" features and poses; this timeframe is considered the "sweet spot."
How do we prepare our home?
Of course, some parents stress out about having a photography session in their home. It’s too messy! It’s not Pinterest-worthy! It’s too small! The lighting stinks! But I am here to help you through all of that…
Think of the places you want to photograph: bedroom, living room, outside lawn, hallways. Just remove any clutter. Clear countertops, remove towels from tops of doors, and remove unwanted blankets, pillows, or toys. Make your bed, clear the bedside tables. If you are still having trouble, email me a photo, and I'll give you suggestions!
How should we dress for our family session?
Relaxed and casual clothing like jeans and a t-shirt or light shirt/blouse or a floaty dress work particularly well for in-home and outdoor family sessions. Starched shirts and Sunday best will feel too formal and make it harder for you feel relaxed and in the moment.
Neutral colors, pastel colors, jewel tones, navy, white, & cream tend to photograph well.
Choose 3-4 colors you like and color-coordinate outfits to complement each other.
We don’t feel very confident in front of the camera, is that ok?
First of all, feeling awkward is normal!!
1. Start Small: We'll begin by taking photos in spaces where you feel comfortable, like your room.
2. Practice Self-Compassion: Remind yourself that everyone has insecurities. Be kind to yourself and focus on what you like about your appearance.
3. Focus on the Positives: Highlight your favorite features when taking photos. We can experiment with angles and lighting to see what works best for you!
How far do you travel?
Within 30 miles of Platte City. I am happy to discuss any photoshoots outside of that. An additional travel fee will be added to your invoice.
